The proposed re-development of the St Tarcisius Church site is the cornerstone for the future of the Catholic parish of Camberley and Bagshot. It is proposed to build a new pastoral centre attached to the St Tarcisius Church in London Road, Camberley which will better support the life and the parish and the wider Surrey Heath community.
Currently the parish is served by three sets of churches, two priests’ houses and halls or meeting rooms in each of Bagshot (Christ the King), Camberley North (Old Dean – St Peter & St John) and Camberley Town Centre (St. Tarcisius). Yet, with the current Mass attendance and with just one priest serving the churches, these are not all required for the future of the parish.
In light of this, it has been decided to significantly upgrade the facilities offered at the St Tarcisius site to allow for the amalgamation of the St Peter & St John congregation with the St Tarcisius to provide a state-of-the art community hub in the heart of Camberley Town Centre.
The practicalities of this venture would entail selling the St Peter and St John Church site, Old Dean, for development to part-fund upgrading facilities at St. Tarcisius.
The plans shown below are indicative of the development proposed.
